I’m celebrating National Ice Cream day with a visual buffet. Below are some of my favorite ice cream recipes I’ve ever created as well as some of my favorite spots in San Francisco.
I’m kicking off the list with Smitten Ice Cream, a cult favorite in San Francisco which features fresh ice cream that’s made to order with a special liquid Nitrogen machine. That’s my beloved 94 year old grams.
The flavors change almost daily, although TCHO chocolate and vanilla are staples.
Buttah is also obsessed.
I mean… It doesn’t get better than this. Family, fluff, and fabulous ice cream.
Of course, we mustn’t forget Humphry Slocombe where bourbon ice cream with cornflakes is just one of their signature flavors. I’ve also tried bone marrow ice cream there… YUP.
BiRite Creamery is a classic of course. Although I have to say, I’m more a fan of their soft serve than I am their ice cream. Their vanilla soft serve with fresh fruit compote and homemade granola is ON POINT.
Three Twins is near and dear to my heart. I used to live two blocks away from it (dangerous) and I still dream about their banana pudding ice cream, which is no longer in product. {insert crying emoji here}. I literally STILL think about it and I had it four years ago. FOUR!!
And of course, you can’t beat ice cream in COOKIE cups!!! Or frozen chocolate chip cookie sundaes!! Both easy recipes I made for my pal Ashley at Sugar & Cloth!
Almond Joy lovers, rejoice! This Almond Joy Ice Cream bombe was probably one of the more labor intensive ice cream projects I’ve made but the work TOTALLY paid off.
DIY ice cream, no machine required. Check out these fresh berry semifreddos I made for Brit + Co.
And lastly, creamy 2-ingredient ice cream that is also beneficial to your waistline. Can I get an Amen?
What’s your favorite ice cream shop or recipe? Would love any recos.
