It was a few weeks ago that my great grand aunt celebrated her 90th birthday. She is a woman to admire– extremely self sufficient at her age AND still wears heels everyday. She naturally embodies such class and style, and always looks so put together. For such an awesome woman, a birthday celebration by the water of Half Moon Bay was only appropriate.
She’s in the middle, and my 92 year old grandma is on the left. What’s amazing is that they knew each other in Hong Kong when they were kids, and then both moved to the US separately. Somehow, some way, they met again, quite coincidentally, when my parents started to date each other. Amazing how fate brings people together, again!
Hosted at the Ritz Carlton, the party actually felt like a super fancy wedding. It was formal wear, and cocktail hour by the water kicked off the festivities.
Not sure when the last time I had caviar was– I think it was when my great grand uncle had the same party. The only other time in my life… So I definitely took advantage and had a few little caviar plates. There was also a sushi bar, and hor d’oeuvres including bacon wrapped figs and beef wellington (not pictured).
There were also kilts, of course.
My adorable grandma (and me! in her reflection).
I wore a gorgeous alc dress, which I love because it’s comfortable yet still chic.
The party ended with this stunning cake. The curls! So intricate.
What a birthday party to remember! Besides the lavish festivities, it was awesome celebrating my great grand aunt, and everything that she’s achieved in her long life. Quite the inspiration to myself.
