For those of you who did not get the chance to attend Coachella this year, you probably are sick of having your news feed flood with posts and pictures about it. Sadly, we all know this is going to last for another 2 weeks so… better find shelter from Facebook and Instagram for awhile.
On the bright side, the best part about all this is Fauxchella! We can take advantage of all these lovely music artists performing before and after the music festival. As we featured in one of our Tuesday Tunes, we went out and saw Purity Ring this past week for their second show at The Independent. They played through their entire album AND performed their cover of Soulja Boy’s “Grammy”. In addition to their incredible sound, Purity Ring also had this crazy cool stage to enhance the live experience. Imagine entering the Indie with this these cocoons hanging over in a strange, eerie way:
Maybe it was only me, but I just imagined a scene from a horror movie where the spun eggs would hatch. It probably did not help with the shrill voice of Blue Hawaii’s lead singer filling the room.
When the mood was only getting darker, Purity Ring came on and BAM! They brought in the light, literally. It was beautiful! There was no finer shrine to set the stage for this duo.
Now, for some threee fun facts on Purity Ring:
1. Corin Roddick and Megan James originally toured with a music project called Gobble Gobble (now Born Gold).
2. Beyond her ethereal voice, Megan designs and handmakes all the clothes that they wear.
3. Corin made this cool musical instrument/lighting machine!
Purity Ring transcended our expectations. We highly recommend catching this pair next time they’re in town.
