Why drink ordinary hot chocolate when you can have spiked, unicorn white hot chocolate?! We recently stumbled upon the idea of unicorn hot chocolate here, and knew we had to have our own, without flying all the way to LA. This spiked white hot chocolate is a perfect drink to quickly whip up on Christmas Eve, or kick off present unwrapping on Christmas Day. Add a dash of Kahlua for the adults and keep it booze-free for the kids so everybody can have some. However, what makes this “unicorn” you ask? Well, the bright pink color and festive sprinkles add a unicorn-y touch. Give it a try below!
Spiked Unicorn White Hot Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients (Makes one large mug):
- 2 cups milk
- 1 oz white chocolate (we used a chocolate bar— and it was about 3 squares)
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 oz Kahlua
- pink food coloring, we used this brand.
Combine the milk, white chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, stirring occasionally. If the chocolate still isn’t melted by the time the milk begins to boil, turn it down to low heat. Keep stirring and heating till the chocolate is melted. Then, dip a toothpick into the gel food coloring and drop it into the milk. Be careful with the food coloring as it is very saturated. Keep slowly adding food coloring until it’s the color you want. Then, remove from heat. Add the Kahlua to the white hot chocolate, then top with whipped cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles!
So, so good.
That gingerbread man almost didn’t make it!
If you’re making white hot chocolate, I’d recommend going with full fat milk. Go big or go home, right?
