When I was in South Lake Tahoe a few weeks ago, we took some time to explore the cozy little town that is Truckee, CA. At first, I was a little skeptical when people said it was super cute, and I’m happy to say I was proven wrong. Though the city is small, it makes up for it in little shops and overall good vibes.
We were looking for places to eat lunch when I stumbled upon Morgan’s Fish Market & Lobster House. To be frank, anything with the words “fish market” in the name and I’m usually hooked, especially when the restaurant has a bunch of positive reviews on Yelp and is the only restaurant of its kind in the surrounding area.
I was lucky that I went with five other people, so we got to order quite a bit. I still wanted more! It has the classic seafood market offerings, like raw oysters, lobster, clams, mussels… the list goes on. It also has daily specials in addition to a whole section of cooked food, like lobster mac n’ cheese!
We ended up ordering the clam chowder, lobster rolls (of course), oyster po boy and the crab quesadilla.
Highlights from Morgan’s Fish Market & Lobster House were the lobster mac’n cheese and oyster po’ boy. While the lobster rolls were good, I would’v enjoyed a more buttery roll and perhaps lobster with more flavor. I am spoiled by what I get here in the Bay Area.
The restaurant is small with mainly counter seating, but turnover is pretty quick. I would love to go back and try their other selection of seafood from the fish market when I get a chance. If you’re in the area, I would recommend it for lunch if you like seafood! Also, be sure to take a stroll around the neighborhood to check out the local shops, like Dark Horse Coffee Roasters and Cake Tahoe.
